We partner with brands, people and places to create cultural and social impact through art, tech & design. As a collective, our practice encompasses a diverse range of specialisations - from communication design to experiential spaces, films to installation art.

A COLLECTIVE VOICE

RoyStudio works at the domain of branding, place branding and communication design. Switch works in the domain of motion design, animation and narratives.

The studios exist with their own distinctive specialisations, craft and voice but with the same values. The studios function as a collective on interdisciplinary projects and independently on domain specific projects. This structure allows us to be flexible in the way we operate and choose the right partners and clients to work with.

As a practice, our projects stem from:

Commission/client based projects that we think are aligned with our tenets

Studio programs that create products/ services /experiences that we believe are essential.

What drives us

In navigating the complexities of our world, our studios embrace collaboration and co-creation as one of the fundamental values that drive us. Collaborating with partners enhances the strength of our designs, while co-creation forms the foundation of essential design programs, addressing intricate problems.

We recognise the profound impact design holds in today's consumer focussed landscape. As a studio, we are committed to designing for positive impact, conscious of the influence we wield in creating demand.

Embracing continuous change, we view each project as a lifelong learning opportunity, enriching our craft and expanding our perspectives. This commitment to evolution is deeply ingrained in our practice and projects.

Our approach is anchored in rootedness, whether crafting motion design systems for films or shaping identities for places. We immerse ourselves in the context of people, place, and culture, ensuring a meaningful and authentic design expression.

I’ve been drawing ever since I could first hold a pencil, and I plan to continue until the day I can no longer grasp one. As a communication designer, I’ve worked with a diverse range of mediums. Eventually, I reached the conclusion that I wanted to work and grow in a space where all these different mediums converge, and Roy Studio seemed to be the perfect space for it.

Working with such warm individuals, each eccentric in their own way, not to mention the two dogs and a blue-eyed cat all nestled together in a charming little villa in a sleepy old Goan town, is something I never imagined for myself.

"Being an animator gives me the opportunity to enter a universe where I can use the power of motion to give thoughts and dreamy images life, and it is a genuine privilege to weave stories that unleash my creative spirit.
My tenure at Switch has been an exceptional journey, brimming with invaluable experiences that have profoundly influenced my artistic growth. I owe an immense amount of gratitude to Upasana and Roy for their essential guidance and mentorship. Their unwavering commitment to their craft, work ethics and perseverance serve as a beacon, inspiring me to constantly strive for excellence. Working alongside super cool leaders and project supervisors, Esha and Nigel has been an absolute delight. Their passion for their work and support have transformed every project into a deeply fulfilling endeavor. Together, we have fostered an environment where creativity thrives!

At Switch Studio, not only have I refined my technical skills, but I have also gained a deeper understanding of my own capabilities and how to harness them effectively. With each stroke and frame, I have come to appreciate the impact design and animation can have, leaving an indelible mark on both the creator and the audience."

From taking up motion design to recreate, satisfying loop-able animations, and slowly falling in love with the process of grasping new softwares, I’ve recently gotten a more tangible understanding of skillset and improvement.

Interning at Switch as a motion designer was an amazing learning experience. The exposure to on-site work culture, industrial level projects was incredibly insightful.

Sketches brought to life from scratch, an eye-catching visual formed through skilful execution brings any animator immense joy. Similarly, the opportunity to imitate reality is a privilege to create. To work smart and utilise technology to its fullest potential is one thing, however working with meaning, whether for a purpose or just for funsies is just as essential. It’s an art to strike that balance. I have so much gratitude towards Esha and Nigel for their wisdom and informative, constructive inputs. As well as their reminders to come have lunch together.

"My overall internship experience as a graphic design intern at was highly rewarding. It provided a practical platform to apply the skills I acquired during my studies and allowed me to work on real-world design projects like any other internship, but this was my first time interning in a physical studio space and the experience was unparalleled.

Working while sitting in the same space as super talented designers such as Roy and Upasana was a whole new experience as apart from working on tasks I was assigned to, I got the opportunity to take sneak peeks and watch them work their magic on the really cool projects that they were working on. Another perk to this studio setup was the Haku breaks that I could take when my brain would start frying from staring at my laptop for too long and not to mention the opportunity to meet such fun people like Esha, who was an amazingly talented, fun and one of a kind quirky mentor for me from whom I learnt a lot both inside and outside of work during the past two months,Nigel, who behind all his “workaholic-ness” had some very interesting thoughts and ideas and of course my fellow interns, Swikriti, Shipra and Suvigya "
